Legacy Cool:Gen to object Java

Just as Comptramatics' Legacy eTrans-Formation Service (LeTSTM) can transform legacy Cobol to Java; by using native Cool:Gen code and Cool:Gen generated Cobol, LeTS can transform legacy Cool:Gen systems to object Java.

Transforming from Cool:Gen to Java has many advantages, among which are:

  • Cool:Gen is an aging, proprietary system with very expensive and rising licensing fees.
  • Even the newer versions of Cool:Gen which generate Java have proprietary 'black boxes' for which there are expensive licensing fees.
  • New Java development and maintenance technologies far exceed, in terms of ease of use and cost and time savings, anything available in the Cool:Gen world.
  • Cool:Gen is implemented for a limited number of specific hardware and software environments. Java runs on almost every computer currently and with nearly every current operating system thus enabling you to shop for the most cost effective hardware/software environment combination.
  • Cool:Gen maintenance and support staff costs are high due to the limited availability of personnel. Java maintenance and support staff costs are less due to the wide spread availability of Java trained personnel. The total pool of Java personnel is increasing which also tends to hold costs down.
  • Unlike Cool:Gen, Java scales well for both large and small scale projects.
  • In contrast to Cool:Gen there are literally thousands of vendors improving and adding new functionality to the Java environment.
